CBD for sleep
It is the reason most people get here. The honest version: what it does, what it does not do, how many drops to take and how long to give it before deciding.
Falling asleep is rarely the problem
Waking up is. Plenty of people drop off at eleven and are staring at the ceiling at three with their head at full speed. That is not a lack of sleep: it is an alarm system that will not switch off.
CBD acts on the endocannabinoid system, the one regulating the sleep-wake cycle alongside the stress response. It does not add sleep from outside — it removes what is blocking it.
Which is why what people describe is not drowsiness, but that it stops being hard.

How to take it
Three things that change the outcome
- 45 min before
Timing beats dose
Under the tongue, 45 minutes before bed. Taking it once you are already in bed is the commonest mistake: by the time it works you have spent half an hour turning over.
- 60 seconds
Hold before swallowing
Under the tongue there are capillaries that take the CBD straight into the blood. Swallow it at once and it goes through the liver, where you lose a good part of it.
- 5 to 7 nights
Do not judge night one
Unlike a sleeping pill, CBD does not knock you out — it regulates. The effect on sleep accumulates. Hold the same dose for a week before deciding whether it works for you.
How many drops for sleep
Start at five drops and hold for three nights. If nothing changes, go to eight. Three more nights. If there is still nothing, twelve.
The moment you notice the effect, stop going up. That is your dose. More is not better with CBD — past your own point it stops adding anything and starts leaving you heavy in the morning.
If four weeks at the high dose do nothing, the honest answer is that it is not working for you. We would rather say that than sell you a second bottle.
Which formula
The C, almost always. If the thing keeping you awake is severe pain, the I is the one — but it is psychoactive and we talk that through first.
Common questions
What people ask about sleep
Will it knock me out like a pill?
No. A hypnotic forces sleep; CBD lowers the alertness that is keeping you awake. That is why there is no hangover the next day — and also why it is useless if you expected to drop off in ten minutes.
Will I wake up groggy?
At the right dose, no. If you wake up heavy you took too much: drop two or three. Daytime drowsiness is almost always a sign of overdosing, not of the product being wrong for you.
Can I take it with my sleeping pills?
Ask your doctor first. CBD uses the same liver enzymes as many medicines — cytochrome P450 — and can change how they are processed. That is a real interaction with a name, not a generic caution.
Is it addictive?
No physical dependence on CBD has been described, and the WHO said as much in its 2018 report. Even so, if you have gone months without sleeping, the cause is worth looking at with a professional.
